Anti-Plastic Bag Campaign (31 August, 2012)

About 15 cadets of the college joined a group of 40 cadets and took up an Anti-Plastic Bag Campaign rally on 31 August, 2012 during the course of attending the Annual Training Camp held at Union Christian College, Aluva by 7 Kerala Girls Bn NCC, Thrissur. The rally was not only about holding placards with messages about ill-effects of plastic bags but also interacted with the local shopkeepers and public. During this interaction, the cadets enquired with the public about their attitude towards the use of plastic bags. They also tried to educate the public about the adverse effects of plastic bags on the environment. Further they encouraged the people to practice the three golden principles of ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ and to move to biodegradable alternatives. In an attempt to emphasise the purpose of the campaign and to motivate them, the cadets also exchanged 200 paper bags for plastic bags, which were being used by the people.
